Dear [Salutation]:

On behalf of the Georgia Institute of Technology, I thank you for your support through [unrestricted endowment name]. As a result of this essential funding, the Institute is able to offer critical resources for students and faculty in addition to having the flexibility to respond to emerging opportunities and needs.

For the 2022-23 fiscal year, Georgia Tech’s unrestricted endowments generated income of more than $13 million. When combined with other sources of unrestricted funds, including gifts through Roll Call, the total unrestricted support available to the Institute was more than $29 million to address the most pressing needs across campus.

This year, Georgia Tech was ranked the #1 public university in America for the best value and the number one public university in the nation for career placement by The Princeton Review, and the National Academy of Investors listed us among the top 50 universities in the world in patents granted. Statistics like these reflect Georgia Tech's continued preeminence as a renowned public research university.

Through your support, you are making a difference at Georgia Tech. Please know how much we appreciate your engagement with and investment in the Institute.

Sincerely,

Jen Howe

Vice President for Development

Your gift is transforming lives.

By establishing an unrestricted endowment, you are providing Georgia Tech with the resources necessary to realize its mission of developing leaders who advance technology and the human condition. Students are at the heart of all we do, and unrestricted funding plays a significant role in ensuring that a Georgia Tech education is accessible to qualified students regardless of their financial situation.

Of the funds available to the Institute in the last year, $17 million—more than half—was directed to support students. These funds provided $12 million in need-based and merit-based undergraduate scholarships and $5 million in graduate fellowships. As stated in our strategic plan, the challenges and opportunities we face demand that we empower and include more talented people, backgrounds, and perspectives in the process of learning, discovery, and creation. We are committed to removing barriers of access for financially challenged students. Funding from unrestricted endowment provides key support for students and is one of the important ways in which we are expanding access for students from Georgia and beyond.

"I am the first of [my siblings] to leave my hometown to attend university. While my parents constantly stressed that staying home would be cheaper and avoid excessive student loan debt, they were thrilled to find out that I had received such a scholarship that I could experience a new city's culture without having to take out any loans."

-- Lauren, Business Administration major

Your gift is transforming tomorrow.

Georgia Tech will welcome our largest undergraduate class ever this fall; the Institute is becoming one of the fastest growing universities in the nation and the fastest growing in the state. We also have experienced growth in research activity which has made Georgia Tech the nation’s top university in research and development funding among institutions without a medical school. With some of the largest and most advanced research teams in the nation, our faculty and students are working on cutting-edge research in critical areas from climate and energy to artificial intelligence, space exploration, economic development, cybersecurity, biotechnology, neuroscience, and the future of cities. Unrestricted funds make it possible to advance such research and recruit and retain the eminent faculty who are leading these research efforts.
